Carlos, a true Tico, was born in Tilaran in 1959, Helen in Switzerland in 1964. 1993 we made our dream come true concluding the buying of 69 acres of land on Peninsula Osa in Costa Rica. Having spent five years together in Switzerland, we decided to leave Europe in 1996 in order to settle down on our property in Costa Rica and finally implement our visions of SUITAL lodge. The main lodge and all of the cabins have been built according to plans drawn by ourselves and created with lots of our love for the detail. The wood used for building the cabins has been from fallen trees only. Not a single tree had been cut down. The outer walls have been left natural without any treatment, which causes a very rustic look. The 15 acres of land directly surrounding the lodge have been used by former owners for livestock farming. This area has been afforested and native agricultural crops and ornamental plants have been recultivated. The rest of the 69 acres presents preserved primary and secondary moist tropical forest. The variety of different types of vegetation make the property an ideal spot for bird watching! In Summer 1999 we gave birth to our daughter Céline. One year later SUITAL opened its doors and the first guests were welcomed. Our dogs Osa and Abu and little cat Coral make our family complete. We love Costa Rica and the countries extraordinary diversity of flora and fauna. We would like to invite you to share this pure, natural charm with us. We are looking forward to seeing you soon!
